This is supposed to be sometime early in that sort of interim time between L's death and the point where Near approaches the US authorities. You have to start somewhere...

I still have mixed feelings about it...I haven't used this style much. I did Near's side first, and by the time I was done with Mello's I noticed tons of little problems with the first half and had to go back...and somehow I feel like Mello looks a lot older in the third row, and I was so tired of staring at it that I couldn't be bothered to try to change the entire shape of his face hehe. Oh well. Overall I guess I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

ETA: omg...my computer is widescreen so I didn't really realize how darn big I made this. Shrank it down a smidge...
