oy, my awful posture is ruining it. this was my final project in the jewelry class...the rings are steel and the back part is etched aluminum. I used Drano to etch the metal with asphaltum as a resist, and the painted it with regular old acrylic inks. i wish i could wear this grocery shopping.
ETA. Oh wow, a DD...*blushes* Thanks so much! Since people keep asking... It weighs about 2 lb, and took around 36 hours to fabricate.

waterfall by ~Sarapsys is a unique piece of jewelry and a very creative use of maille. It really is like a waterfall in metal and I also wish I could wear this grocery shopping! (Suggested by `limnides and Featured by `Myana)
What a great design! How long would it have taken you to make? Sorry, I know that's a crap question - probably as frustrating as when I get asked it! How long's a piece of string?!
Pfft, that's ok, but I have to think about it lol. Ummmmm, well the chainmail took me probably four hours...measuring, cutting, and arranging the squares took about two hours, tapping and drilling the holes in them took three hours, filing down the edges and messy bits took probably around ten hours. Five hours to put on the resist, two hours in the etching tank, another four to clean off all the junk, three hours to paint and three to put the whole thing together. So that comes to...36 hours, I'd say. Filing was the worst.
Not terribly heavy, maybe...two pounds? The aluminum cascade is a lot lighter than it looks. Haha, I suppose technically I could, though it would look a little odd over my coat...
